IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir this week condemned “the rioters who do not represent the settlement movement,” adding that their actions are “morally and ethically reprehensible, and they endanger the settlement enterprise, security stability, and our values as a people and as a state.” Zamir called on “all authorities in the state to act against the phenomenon and uproot it before it is too late.” However, Zamir made similar statements last month and over the past year. He (as well as Bennett, who also spoke this week) express concern for the good name and future of the settlements in the occupied territories, yet their remarks included no word of sorrow or apology to the families of West Bank residents who lost their lives as a result of settler violence, which is supported by leaders of the “settlement movement” and a significant portion of its residents.

The Chief of Staff’s words ring hollow, since under international law—which Israel does not deny—the army, through his subordinate, the Commander of the Central Command, is the sovereign in the West Bank and therefore he is “the responsible authority". Zamir’s soldiers are responsible for the security of all residents, including Palestinians living under coercive rule. The reality on the ground, described here week after week, reveals close cooperation between the army, the police, the Civil Administration, and regional councils with settler violence. As a result, dozens of Palestinian communities have been forced to flee their homes in Area C. This top-down directed ethnic cleansing is responsible not only for the displacement of shepherding communities from their land, but also for daily actions by the IDF that undermine the fabric of life of Palestinian residents.

Neither Bennett, nor the associates of Lapid and Eisenkot, nor the supporters of Lieberman expressed shock at the fact that an undercover Border Police unit infiltrated the town of Tammun near Nablus between Saturday and Sunday in a vehicle bearing Palestinian license plates and opened deadly fire on four members of a family returning from shopping. Othman, age 7, blind and with special needs, and Mohammed, age 5, were hit first, followed by their parents, Ali, 37, and Waad, 35. The surviving child, Khaled, recounted that after the shooting, a soldier who pulled him from the car said, “We killed dogs,” and beat him. “They endangered the force,” was the justification offered by those who entered the village disguised in a car with Palestinian plates. Two days after the killing, the Police Internal Investigations Department had still not summoned the shooters or their commanders for questioning. Israel shows indifference to Palestinians shot dead by uniformed personnel and settlers, even when it is an entire family with children (on Channel 14 they were referred to as “terrorists”). Since October 7, 2023—and even more so since February 28 this year—it appears that a state license to kill has been granted. Otherwise, how can it be explained that all fatal incidents over the past two weeks in the Central Command area of the West Bank have not resulted in a single suspect remaining in custody for investigation?

Sunday – The Commander of the Central Command, Avi Bluth, issued a new order last week (March 11, 2026) that will sever Palestinian residents in the northern Jordan Valley from additional lands in the Tammun area. The order followed a High Court rejection of a petition to cancel a temporary freeze order that had been issued to allow construction of part of the eastern barrier in the Tammun Valley. The order was justified as an urgent security necessity in light of the war with Iran. Immediately after the decision, work began on site: infrastructure was destroyed, crops were uprooted, communities were displaced, and homes were set on fire. At the same time, the Samaria Regional Council, the Amana organization, and the Settlement Division issued a statement calling for the establishment of a settlement nucleus in Tammun, citing the same “urgent security necessity.”

Monday – The home of Abd’s family in Fasayil, which had been under the protective presence of activists from “Looking the Occupation in the Eye,” was demolished by the Civil Administration. A home, children, livestock—lives—crushed within minutes under bulldozers. The struggle to save the home failed due to the inability to withstand relentless harassment and abuse by police, the army, and settlers, who, as part of the ethnic cleansing plan, established a small outpost—one of many—whose residents intimidate and terrorize Palestinian inhabitants.

IDF Spokesperson: “During a targeted operational activity by snipers from Unit 636 in the Sinjil area of the Samaria Brigade, the fighters identified three terrorists who were throwing stones at Israeli vehicles on a main road in the area. The fighters fired at the terrorists and two were killed on the spot. IDF forces began pursuing the third suspect who fled.”

Tuesday – Activists assisted in transferring the contents of Abd’s demolished home from Fasayil to al-Auja. At the same time, additional donated equipment was delivered.

Wednesday – The German Ambassador to Israel, Steffen Seibert, visited Adi Cohen in the rehabilitation ward at Sheba Medical Center. Adi was seriously injured in a settler attack in Qusra on March 27, 2026. Sigal Shukrun, who accompanied the ambassador, reported that he was very empathetic and expressed support for the activities of “Looking the Occupation in the Eye” and similar groups. The importance of applying pressure on the Israeli government “to stop this terror” was emphasized. Last week, the ambassador met with Oded Paporish, who was injured in the same incident.

Thursday – In Khirbet a-Tawil in the Nablus district, where activists maintain a protective presence, six settlers—two of them armed—arrived on two ATVs, trespassed onto private land, and attacked three Palestinian children who were herding their family’s flock. One of the adult settlers struck a child with his weapon, injuring him. The child’s father came to help, at which point the settler fired into the air. Two Palestinian men arrived and managed to extract two of the children; the injured child remained with his father. Soldiers who arrived allowed medics from a Palestinian ambulance to treat the child but did not allow evacuation. The father was arrested. The settlers returned safely to their outpost.

Friday – Member of Knesset Gilad Kariv (The Democrats) visited Adi Cohen in the rehabilitation ward at Sheba Medical Center, who had been brutally attacked in Qusra on February 27, 2026 by four settlers.

Saturday – Settlers from the illegal outpost near Khirbet a-Tawil, on the outskirts of Aqraba, arrived as they do regularly on Saturdays in an expanded group led by Noam Jackson, accompanied by five adults and minors. Their goat herd entered cultivated fields belonging to Palestinian residents. Activists attempted to remove the herd and encountered a violent response. An officer and three soldiers arrived and declared that the settlers were permitted to graze there. They presented a closed military zone order that was not in effect and did not apply to the area. Rain temporarily ended the incident. Two settler minors returned later in the afternoon with the herd.

Following a traffic accident between a settlers’ ranger vehicle and a Palestinian pickup truck near the Homesh settlement, settlers raided villages across the West Bank. Yehuda Shmuel Sherman, 18, was killed in the accident and his brother Daniel was moderately injured. Both were originally from Elon Moreh and were active in new outposts in the northern West Bank. Initially reported as a traffic accident, the possibility of a deliberate attack is also being examined. Settlers blocked junctions and reportedly set fire to buildings and cars in several villages; 11 Palestinians were lightly injured.
