נוכחות מגינה היא ההגדרה והכותרת של הפעילות שלנו באזורי המגורים והחקלאות של קהילות רועים פלסטינים בגדה המערבית הכבושה. הנוכחות שלנו נועדה להגן עליהן מפני התנכלויות מתנחלים קיצונים ואלימים, תושבי המאחזים הבלתי-חוקיים שהוקמו בבקעה בשנים האחרונות וביתר שאת מאז 7 באוקטובר 2023. פעילות זאת באה במקום מה שהוגדר בעבר כליווי הרועים, פעילות שהתקיימה בזמנים שעוד התאפשר לרועים הפלסטינים לצאת עם עדריהם לאזורי מרעה. כיום, הקהילות הפלסטיניות בבקעת הירדן ובשיפולי ההר, באזורי B ו-C עוברות מסכת הולכת וגוברת של התעללות רצופה מדי יום ולילה בידי הצבא והמתנחלים באזור, הכוללת מעצרי שווא, איומים, החרמת רכוש, ביקורים ליליים והריסות בתים.

‍המטרה ברורה וגלויה: לנקות את השטח מפלסטינים לטובת המתנחלים ולספחו למדינת ישראל , וזאת בשעה שישוביהם ומאחזיהם של המתנחלים הנבנים בניגוד לחוק מתרחבים שם בקצב שיא, באין מפריע ובגיבוי מערכת הביטחון. האלימות של מתנחלי המאחזים כלפי התושבים הפלסטינים גואה, והשלטונות לא עושים נגדם דבר.

אנו קבוצה של מתנדבים, הנמצאים בבקעה ובשיפולי ההר מידי יום ביומו ומהווים חיץ יחיד בין קהילות הרועים לבין המתנחלים, הפועלים באכזריות ובשרירות-לב קיצונית נגד התושבים הפלסטינים במטרה לדחוק את רגליהם ולסלקם במסגרת מדיניות הטיהור האתני הנתמכת בידי הממשלה, הצבא והמשטרה. פעילותנו כוללת גם סיוע לאנשי הקהילות מול הרשויות, המתבטאת בעיקר בסיוע משפטי.

אנו נמצאים שם מידי יום. נוכחותנו חשובה גם לצורך איסוף נתונים ותיעוד של המעשים הבלתי-חוקיים שנעשים על ידי גורמים אלו והבאתם לידיעת הציבור ומקבלי ההחלטות בארץ ובחו"ל. אנו נעזרים גם בפעילות משפטית כדי להיאבק בעוולות ובמחולליהן.
בנוסף, נוצר חיבור אנושי בין הפעילים לקהילות המאפשר לפעילינו לעזור ולתרום באופן אינדבידואלי בנושאים נוספים של עזרה: איסוף וחלוקה של ציוד, בגדים, צעצועים, שיעורי אנגלית, עזרה בשיקום בורות מים ותשתיות שנהרסו. אנשי קהילות הרועים יודעים שהם יכולים לפנות אלינו בכל עת בבקשת סיוע.
